Unlike watches, pendants or standalone GPS trackers that can be forgotten, removed or left at home, SafeSole stays discreetly inside the user’s shoe. This makes it a practical GPS tracker worn inside the shoe, helping family members, carers and support teams locate someone quickly while supporting independence, confidence and dignity.

SafeSole uses a roaming SIM card to connect to available mobile networks, helping provide reliable location tracking across the UK. SafeSole is a discreet GPS tracker built into an everyday shoe insole. It is designed to support people living with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease or orientation difficulties who may be at risk of getting lost, going missing, wandering or walking with purpose. Because it sits inside the shoe, there is no visible wearable device to remember, carry or charge separately when leaving the house.

The SafeSole insole sends location information to the online tracking platform using GPS and the mobile network. Families, carers and support teams can view the wearer’s location on a map through the SafeSole.io platform. You can also set up safe zones, sometimes called geozones, and receive an email or SMS alert if the person leaves a chosen area.

SafeSole may be suitable for older people and people living with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism or other conditions that affect orientation, memory or independence when out and about. It can be especially helpful when someone is still active and mobile but may be at risk of becoming disorientated, leaving a familiar area or being unable to explain where they live.

Some people may remove visible devices, forget to take them out, or feel uncomfortable wearing something that looks like a tracker. SafeSole is hidden inside normal footwear, making it a discreet, dignity-first option for dementia safety and wandering support. As the insole stays in the shoe, it is less likely to be left behind when the person goes outside.

When the wearer is outdoors and moving, SafeSole can send location updates approximately every minute. GPS performance can vary depending on the environment. For example, location information may be limited or unavailable inside buildings, underground areas or places with poor mobile signal.

Yes. Through the SafeSole.io platform, you can create personalised safe zones around important places such as home, a day centre, a family member’s address or a familiar walking route. If the wearer leaves a selected geozone, nominated relatives or carers can receive an alert by email or SMS so they can respond quickly.

SafeSole uses induction charging with the charger provided. Remove the insole from the shoe and place the white marked area centrally on the charger. The charger will light up blue while charging. A full charge takes approximately 1.5 hours, and battery life can last up to three days depending on movement and use. When not in motion, the insole switches to energy-saving mode.

Yes. You can set up a low-battery alert in the SafeSole.io platform. When the SafeSole battery level drops below 25%, nominated contacts can receive an email or SMS reminder so the insole can be recharged before it is next needed.

SafeSole can be placed inside many everyday shoes and can be trimmed to fit the wearer’s shoe size. For best results, use footwear that the person wears regularly and is comfortable walking in.

SafeSole is available in two sizes: Small, suitable for UK sizes 3 to 7, with a length of 26 cm, maximum width of 9 cm and heel height of 1.1 cm; and Large, suitable for UK sizes 8 to 12, with a length of 31 cm, maximum width of 10 cm and heel height of 1.1 cm.

If no location is showing, check that the insole is charged, switched on and outdoors with access to GPS and mobile network coverage. Location updates may not appear when the wearer is inside a building or in an area with weak signal. If the issue continues, contact the Possum SafeSole support team for help.
